The International Fire Relief Mission is pleased to welcome Chief Thomas Plunkett as its mission coordinator. Chief Plunkett is a 22-year fire service veteran serving as both captain and platoon commander for the Maple Heights (Ohio) Fire Department and as fire chief for Reminderville (Ohio) Fire Department. He has also served as a district sales manufacturer for a fire equipment and apparatus dealer.

In July 2009, Chief Plunkett completed international fire training mission for firefighters from Zacapa, Guatemala and administered the donation of a 1987 1,250-gpm pumper. Additionally, he embarks on six to 10 domestic and international explorations annually. He has published travel article for Viva Latin America Travel Guide, and owns Copyright and Registration Certificate for the travel-related television show Copycat Travel.

In addition to his many fire-service accomplishments, Chief Plunkett served as a certified lead fire-training officer where he was responsible for planning, instructing and documenting all fire company tactical training for a 45-person company. And, as chief, he oversaw the transition of a volunteer department from unmanned stations to a fully manned operation.
